Hi! and thanks for dropping by my Personal Profile page. I was born in Madras and was raised in the hills of Himachal Pradesh. I graduated from Alpha Arts and Science College in Madras, and subsequently worked in Bangalore for nearly 6 years. I now live and work in Hyderabad, where I edit FX research for a prominent Swiss bank.
I enjoy reading, writing, painting, food and many other activities. I have a very politically incorrect sense of humour and have developed a reputation as an impromptu comedian and raconteur- something that friends and former colleagues of mine claim to enjoy a great deal. Especially when it is used to needle and ridicule people they don't like!
Right now, apart from my job, I'm working on a novel- an espionage thriller set in India with the working title “Eklavya”. Apart from my novel, I'm exploring my new enthusiasms for Calligraphy and Ink Drawing- my table seems to be filling up with calligraphy pens, nibs ink and test pages. If you're a person who does calligraphy, ink drawing or pencil sketching, do drop me a line, I'd love to hear from you! I'm also taking up contract writing work-practically anything to do with the written word.
My prior professional experience includes selling language courses, selling perfume, ghost-writing, contract work as a member of a security detail (that's kinda-sorta like a bodyguard), tech support, and anti money laundering research for a US investment bank.
These days you'll typically find me working on a content gig, typing away furiously to finish my novel or keeping the peace on the various communities that I own or moderate on Facebook and Orkut. Perhaps I'll be walking around the city from one pani pooree stall to another, or revisiting the collection of over 500 movies that I have built up over the years. In the late evening, you'd find me lounging in my reading space with a book that could be anything from Dante or Homer to PG Wodehouse or Yiddish. For a partial list of my home library, look for me on www.Shelfari.com. I am a die hard information nut. The news alerts that I set up to help me do my job at JP Morgan still keep me busy. I always enjoy an opportunity to explore something new, and that seems to be the best-est business ever! I just realized that some of my past nicknames are representative of some of my perceived traits. Some of the flattering and not so flattering ones are here below. Longbow (LW and the Mercs; The security business- my radio callsign while on detail) L (shortened from Longbow), -----'s 200 lb Rottweiler, The Cook, Mr. Wolf- perhaps a reference to the character from “Pulp Fiction”, Rebbe Tevye, while setting up a kosher kitchen for a client in 2002 – a reference to Fiddler on the Roof, from the line in the song that goes “And I'd discuss the holy books with the learned men, several hours every day” (LW and the Mercs; The security business). I guess its fun to be in business with sarcastic but erudite people Wackypedia: MM Papa Sleaze: RB (Why Why Why???) Blabbermouth: NS, probably my favourite-est person in corporate life- the best wingmate anybody can have.(wing-gal? wing-person? What's politically correct?) Sometimes the best backup you get comes in a petite and utterly loveable 5-foot package. Lindt 85; JJ & JC.
